This is a series I did in the fall of 08. Each of these photographs explains different things about me such as my attachment to things, my need for acceptance.
Tomo Autumn Layne Beauty shot 1. shot with Cannon 1DS
these next 3 are from an assignment my critique teacher gave us: Do something you never do. So I did still life photos in the studio shot with the Cannon 5D. Leaning Tower of Cupcakes. I'm takin' a bite. 2 0n 2.
Permanent Resident focuses on the landmarks of New York City, through different perspectives-with a perspective that possibly hasn’t been seen before. I took the photographs with a Holga Camera, and printed them as C prints. This project was eye opening for me; it helped me feel more permanently connected when I felt like I didn’t belong. Each picture has a story, something I experienced at each site. With these images I want the viewer to be able to experience their own emotional response through each photograph. I added some humor to the names of the photographs because I wanted to add a brighter element to these “dark” pictures. I wanted to make them a bit brighter. I know that I will never be a permanent resident here, and yet I’m not a tourist.
The Beginning. The End. "The Watchmen" "Is that a Canadian tuxedo?!" "Brooklyn Wires" "I got lost" "Should it all be backwards?" "Slow ride (to Freedom), take it easy" "Armanis Roof" "69th & Central Park West" "Size is EVERYthing" "Pillars of Something" "Seagulls at rest" "What are they doing?!"
