Permanent Resident

Permanent Resident

Permanent Resident focuses on the landmarks of New York City, through different perspectives-with a perspective that possibly hasn’t been seen before. I took the photographs with a Holga Camera, and printed them as C prints. This project was eye opening for me; it helped me feel more permanently connected when I felt like I didn’t belong. Each picture has a story, something I experienced at each site. With these images I want the viewer to be able to experience their own emotional response through each photograph. I added some humor to the names of the photographs because I wanted to add a brighter element to these “dark” pictures. I wanted to make them a bit brighter. I know that I will never be a permanent resident here, and yet I’m not a tourist.
